Scientific names (paleontology, malacology, zoology, biology) should be written following the recommendations published by the ICZN then following the binomial nomenclature, or binomial nomenclature is a standard convention used in systematic order to give its name to a species. As the term suggests, binomial scientific name of a species is coined from the combination of two names:the name of the genre it belongs to the species epithet which characterizes and distinguishes this species from other members of that kind.

The first term (generic name) always takes an initial capital letter, while the second term (specific name) is written in lower case, both names are also written in italics (eg, Homo sapiens). When the genre was previously discussed in the text or because they are already listed species of that kind, the generic name may be abbreviated to its initial letter (H. sapiens) but should never be omitted. Only on rare occasions this abbreviation is commonly used instead of the full name. For example, the bacterium Escherichia coli is often referred to only as E. coli .

The names of the minerals should be written in English language following "Nickel, EH & Nichols , MC (2004): MINERAL Database, CD- ROM drive. Material Data Inc. , Ed, Livermore, California" or consulting, if you want to write in Italian, follow the recommendations published in the Journal GML (Pagano and Pezzotta, 2006) and with an initial lowercase letter (except, of course, those who follow a point).
